In Gressoney, you’ll find routes suitable for different levels, from easy walks to high-altitude hikes. From the Staffal area, trails lead towards the Lys Springs, Alta Luce, Lago Gabiet and Colle Bettaforca, while other routes reach some of the valley’s main mountain refuges, including Mantova and Quintino Sella.
For those looking for gentler routes, the area also offers walks through the Gressoney Valley, Walser villages and trails such as Walser Trail No. 15, which can be accessed directly from the Ellex area.
It is this variety that makes Gressoney so appealing in summer: each day you can choose between a relaxing walk, a panoramic hike or a more demanding route into the high mountains.

The Gressoney Valley is also ideal for exploring by bike, with valley roads, gravel tracks, alpine pastures and routes climbing towards higher elevations. In summer, the Monterosa Ski lifts also carry bicycles, making it easier to reach panoramic trails and routes dedicated to mountain biking, cross-country, downhill and freeride.
With an e-bike, even the more demanding climbs become more accessible, allowing you to explore the valley at a more relaxed pace and stop along the way in small villages, alpine pastures and scenic viewpoints. A different way to discover Gressoney, suitable both for those looking for a sporty day out and for those who simply want to enjoy nature on two wheels.

Gressoney offers mountain refuges and routes for a wide range of abilities, from the most accessible hikes to high-altitude experiences. Among the easiest refuges to reach are Rifugio Alpenzu, at 1,779 m along Trail 6 from Chemonal, and Rifugio Gabiet, at 2,370 m, accessible via Trail 7A from Staffal or more comfortably by taking the Staffal–Lago Gabiet cable car.
At higher altitude, you can reach Rifugio Ospizio Sottile, at 2,480 m along Trail 11 from Valdobbia, and Orestes Hütte, at 2,625 m, accessible from Lago Gabiet via Trail 6B. For those looking for a more alpine experience, the routes continue towards refuges such as Mantova, Gnifetti and Quintino Sella, gateways to the high-mountain environment of Monte Rosa.
A network of trails that lets you choose each day between a walk to a mountain refuge, a panoramic hike or a more demanding high-altitude route.
